Biography:

Steven Steyaert is Lead Portfolio Manager in the Multi Asset Solutions (MAS) team at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

At Goldman Sachs Asset Management, the Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) team is responsible for managing multi-asset class portfolios (both funds and mandates). The Multi-Asset Solutions Team (MAS) is a 300+ person team, specialising in designing and developing comprehensive multi-asset class investment solutions, applying sophisticated techniques to strategic and tactical asset allocation, portfolio design, and implementation. The MAS team manages a total of EUR 264 bn Assets Under Supervision (AUS), as of June 30, 2023.

For more than 15 years, Steven Steyaert is part of the Multi Asset Solutions (MAS) team (formerly the Multi Asset team of NN Investment Partners). As Lead Portfolio Manager, Steven is closely involved in portfolio construction and client servicing activities for MAS Multi-Asset funds and mandates. Several of their multi-asset funds are distributed through successful partnerships with retail banks and insurance companies in Belgium, the Netherlands and the rest of Europe.

Private Assets in a Multi-asset portfolio: why, what and how. In the last decade, accommodative monetary policy has resulted in record low interest rates, which in turn supported equity returns. In contrast to this prior goldilocks environment, we expect returns to be more challenged over the coming decade. Investors may need to expand their search for returns beyond public markets as we enter a new cycle with more elevated public equity valuations and higher interest rates. But there are key considerations to take into account when adding private markets to public portfolios.
