Biography:

Jürgen Verschaeve (°1972) studied at Louvain’s Catholic University (KUL) and obtained a Master degree in Mathematics, dept. Astrophysics, and a bachelor degrees in applied economics and educational sciences. At the end of the 1990s, he became certified in financial analysis (EFFAS programme).

Jürgen has 25 years of deep hands-on, professional experience in almost any aspect of asset management, in particular investment strategy, portfolio management, quant research, trading, operations, risk, fund distribution and general governance.

He started his professional career in CERA Bank, starting up quant research and passive management in 1995. As of 2002, he became responsible for balanced, passive and thematic equity funds. During the 2000s, next to his research and portfolio management responsibilities, Jürgen led a number of greenfield projects, being the dealing desk, the securities lending program, the groupwide front office system. In 2008, he moved to Mumbai to locally set up an joint venture asset management company.

After his return in 2010 to KBC AM’s risk department, he became CRO and managing director of KBC Asset Management NV in July 2011. In 2013, Jürgen shifted to the Chief Investment Officer function, and took directorships in the Irish, Indian and Luxembourg asset managers of the AM Group.

In 2017, he onboarded as CEO of CSOB AM, which he led through a strategic transformation. In 2019, Jürgen briefly moved into KBC Bank as GM for the (mass) affluent segment. In October 2020, Jürgen was requested back to the CIO function that he holds up until today.
